The airport in Gelendzhik is located within the city of the same name on the western coast of Gelendzhik Bay, in the area of Cape Tonkiy. Its runway, covered with asphalt concrete, is 3.1 kilometers, which allows the airline to receive aircraft of any type.
The small terminal of the air terminal can serve about 150 passengers per hour. Such a low throughput for the resort town is due to the weather conditions of Gelendzhik, there is very often non-flying weather.
Gelendzhik Airport cooperates mainly with Russian airlines Aeroflot, UTair, Ural Airlines, and others. During the existence of the Soviet Union, there were more than 34 of them. But there were times when only one flight a day was carried out from Gelendzhik.
History
The first civil air transportation from Gelendzhik was carried out on small aircraft An-24 and An-26, and the runway was 1.5 km. The airport served local and national airlines. Gradually expanding and updating the fleet of cars, the airline increased the geography of flights and passenger traffic. However, by the end of the 90s, the beginning of the 2000s, there were practically no flights.
In 2010, after a significant reconstruction, the airport resumed its work. On May 29, the first flight from Moscow landed on the updated runway of the Gelendzhik airport. Its new terminal, with an area of almost 5,000 square meters, has a passenger traffic of 454 people per hour. Since its opening, the airline has served about 800 thousand passengers, while making more than 10 thousand flights.
Service and services
Despite the fact that the airport in Gelendzhik is still under reconstruction, all conditions have been created for a comfortable stay of passengers. Passengers with disabilities are especially attentive here.
For business class passengers, the airline provides a lounge with increased comfort, with the ability to check-in and baggage screening without unnecessary formalities.
Transport
The airport is located 10 km west of the city center of Gelendzhik, 100 km from Anapa and 170 km from Krasnodar. From the airport to the city there is a regular movement of regular buses and minibuses. Many sanatoriums and holiday homes provide their own transport. In addition, the city taxi offers its services.
