The metro of the French city of Toulouse was inaugurated in 1993. It is one of the youngest in Europe and is run by managers of a state-owned company. The total length of the two functioning metro lines in Toulouse is 28.2 kilometers. There are 38 stations for entering, exiting and transferring passengers. The two-car section of each train can accommodate up to two hundred people. In one day, the subway carries at least 350 thousand passengers, which greatly facilitates the tasks of ground transport and helps to reduce the number of traffic jams on the city's roads.
The city council decided to build a metro line in 1983. Six years later, the project began to be implemented, and in 1993 line A was opened. It crossed the city from the southwest to the northeast and received 18 stations to serve passengers. The route passes through the city center, at the Marengo station of line A you can change to railway trains, and to Jean-Jaures - to line B. The builders plan to extend line A, marked in red on the diagram, to the north to the suburb of Lunion.
Construction began on Line B in 2001 and was inaugurated six years later. Its length is 15 km, it includes 20 stations, and is indicated in yellow on the diagrams. Extension of route B is planned in a southerly direction to the Lyabezh-Inopol station.
The Toulouse high-speed rail system includes the city train, indicated on the diagrams by the gray line C, and the tram, the route of which is marked in blue and denoted by E or T1.
