Description of the attraction
Maritsa is a small picturesque village in the northwestern part of the Greek island of Rhodes. The settlement is located just 17 km from the administrative center of the island of the same name, between Kremasti and Psinthos. The population of Maritsa is over 1500 people.
Maritsa is a typical Greek settlement with pretty stone houses, old churches (Agios Anna, Agios Ionnis, Agios Andreas, etc.), narrow cobbled streets, many cozy restaurants, taverns and coffee houses where you can relax and taste traditional local cuisine. A favorite place for residents and guests of Maritsa is the village square. It is here that you will find Masasoura, famous throughout the island, serving one of the most delicious mezedes in Rhodes. The fun in the bars and taverns of Maritsa continues until the morning, and the village is particularly popular with nightlife enthusiasts.
You will get a lot of pleasure visiting Maritsa on New Year's, when grandiose festivities are held on the main square with songs and dances to the accompaniment of lyre and bouzouk. A few kilometers from Maritsa is the old Rhodes International Airport, which today hosts exciting air shows, as well as car and motorcycle races.
