Description of the attraction
The Nikitsky Gate Theater was founded in 1983. Its founder was the director, playwright, composer, People's Artist of Russia, holder of the Order of Honor, academician of the American Pushkin Academy - Mark Grigorievich Rozovsky.
From the day of its foundation until 1987, the studio theater existed in the position of an amateur collective. In January 1987, the theater received the status of a professional theater and a fully self-supporting organization. In October 1991, the theater received state status. Mark Rozovsky has created an interesting theater with an excellent acting ensemble. He talentedly transformed the amateur collective into a highly professional theater.
In January 1999, by the decision of the Moscow Government, the building of the former cinema "Repeated Film" was transferred to the theater. There was a small hall in the building. It accommodated only 80 spectators. The building required major repairs. After the renovation, a second stage appeared in the theater - the main one, with an auditorium for 250 spectators.
From the moment of its foundation to the present day, the theater has come a long way. He has a unique repertoire, it is full of performances of various genres: the repertoire organically combines musicals, comedies, dramas, poetic performances, tragedy and philosophical parables. All the performances are united by one concept - “the idea of humanity and psychology”.
The theater's repertoire includes performances with a long stage history and unchanging audience success: "A Novel about Girls", "Songs of Our Yard". Of the recent performances, the most notable productions are the prose performances by L. Ulitskaya - "Forget-me-nots", "Snowstorm" (V. Sorokin), "Bury me behind the plinth" (P. Sanaeva). The troupe of the theater includes artists of different generations: A. Vilkov, I. Morozova, V. Yumatov, A. Molotkov, N. Troitskaya, S. Fedorchuk, V. Sheiman, Y. Golubtsov, G. Borisova, N. Koretskaya and others. The troupe of the M. Rozovsky Theater is actively touring. Recently, the theater has visited the USA, Sweden, Denmark and Belgium. Germany, Czech Republic, Latvia, Israel, Canada, Korea, France and Poland.
In January 2012, the Nikitsky Gate Theater opened its doors to the audience in a new, reconstructed building of the former Cinema of the Repeated Film. The theater has been waiting for this event for 12 years. A new auditorium with 198 seats, comfortable armchairs and a good view, the stage is equipped with the latest sound equipment using modern technologies, modern lighting equipment has been installed.
The foyer of the theater is comfortably decorated. Everything in the theater is done to make the audience comfortable. With all the modernity of the decoration of the building, built in the 18th century, its historical appearance has been preserved.
About his theater, Mark Rozovsky said: "We, of course, are a theater for the elite, but the beauty is that everyone can be this elite!"
