Description of the attraction

The first Russian theater that emerged in the republic in the post-revolutionary period is the Nikolaev Academic Artistic Russian Drama Theater, which is located in the historical part of the city of Nikolaev, at the intersection of Admiralskaya and Lyagin streets. The building - an architectural monument, which houses the theater, was built in 1881 by the philistine Karl Ivanovich Monte according to the project of the architect T. Brusnitsky. The current creative team of the theater is one of the oldest theatrical collectives in Ukraine, which was organized in 1922 in Lugansk by the Russian director and actor G. Svobodin.

The rectangular building of the Nikolaev Theater is a building with the dominant volume of the stage box. Its facade is made in a pseudo-Renaissance style. The main entrance is distinguished by a monumental six-column portico, which was erected in the post-war period.

At various times, such theatrical figures as V. Komissarzhevskaya, M. Savina, P. Orlenev, M. Dalsky, F. Shalyapin, L. Sobinov, V. Meyerhold, P. Saksagansky and M. Kropivnitsky performed on the theater stage.

In 1896, the first cinema show in the city of Nikolaev was held in the theater. For twelve years, the troupe of the theater had the status of a mobile theater "Miner of Donbass". In 1927, the Moscow magazine "Contemporary Theater" marked the "Miner of Donbass" as the most serious of the Russian drama theaters in Ukraine. After some time, the team was given the right to indicate in their posters - "Art Theater of Ukraine". In 1934-1935. the theater became stationary and settled in Nikolaev. In the period 1939 -1994. the theater was called the pilot V. Chkalov.

Nikolaev Art Russian Drama Theater is a stably and confidently working team that successfully solves all creative and production problems that are based on the wonderful traditions of their predecessors.
