Description of the attraction
The exposition of the Mariupol Port Museum presented in two halls tells about the history of the port from the moment of its foundation to the present day, about the workers and management of the port, about its development and achievements. It contains many photographs and copies of historical documents, models of ships.
The trade union organization of the Mariupol Sea Trade Port has been hatching plans for a museum of its history for several years. The old museum, located in the building of the port administration, has long outlived its usefulness and did not meet the realities of our time. In mid-2012, a new museum was opened.
The preparatory work on the project was carried out by enthusiasts from among the members of the trade union committee. They found support both among the staff and among the management of the port, which made it possible to bring this idea to life. It was not an easy job, in which many professional specialists took part. Port designers also took part in the preparation of the museum exposition, who created projects for showcases, stands and panels. New stands were created, which had never been done in the port before. In the process of their manufacture, a number of technologies were used: papier-mâché, plastic bending, molding, milling and grinding of chipboard, plastic and metal. The result of painstaking work was worthy stands.
