Description of the attraction

Parish Church of St. Martin is one of the architectural and religious landmarks of Vrsar. The construction of the temple continued for a long time: more than a hundred years passed between the date when the foundation was laid (1804) and the consecration of the completed building by the bishop Trifan Pedersolli from Porec (1935).

The construction of the church continued even during the French occupation of Istria (1805-1813). During the construction, a bell tower was planned, but this idea was realized only in 1991.

The church at its base has three naves, supported by four pillars. Next is the presbytery with two arches. Both are decorated with religious paintings by Antonio Macchi in 1946. The first arch has become a real personification of the lives of St. Fosc and St. Martin, while the second is more decorated with various flowers and trees, sheep and angels. In the center of the second arch is the image of Christ as the Lamb of God, which is confirmed by the corresponding inscription in Latin.

There is a marble font in the left nave of St. Martin's Church. The interior of the temple is also decorated with a statue of the Virgin Mary of the XIV century.
