Description of the attraction
The highest peak of the Durmitor mountain range is Bobotov Kuk, which, in addition, is also the highest point in Montenegro. This peak rises to a high-rise of 2522 meters. If the weather is clear and calm, then it offers a view of almost the opposite end of the country, for example, the Serbian Kopaonik massif or Mount Lovcen.
The first ascent to this peak was made and recorded in 1883. Today, such a climb does not present any difficulty for professional climbers, besides it is very popular among tourists. There are two routes for climbing this peak: the first takes about five and a half hours and goes through the primeval forest from the outskirts of Zabljak to the Black Lake itself, and the second takes about 2 hours and starts at the Sadlo pass at an altitude of 1960 m.
The second path is easier, which is why the majority of tourists choose it. You can get to the pass by bike or car from Zabljak. Those tourists who decide to follow a long route must leave the hotel for the ascent no later than 6 o'clock in the morning.
The best time to climb is July-September. In June, there is still snow in many areas, and in October the weather changes a lot, it can be unpredictable and is already quite cold.
However, it is important to have a small set of equipment with you, where there should be water, some food, trekking boots, a waterproof jacket, sunscreen and a hat. In one direction, the length of the route is about 9 km, while the height difference is about 1, 2 km.
Many tourists note that all the difficulties associated with climbing Bobotov kuk are quickly compensated by the panorama and mountain landscape that can be seen from the top. From here you can see the Durmitor ridge, Prokletie massif, Zabljak, Tara canyon, Shkrchko lake.
At the foot of the mountain there is a small restaurant that meets tourists on the way back, offering to have a snack, relax and share their impressions.
Mount Bobotov Kuk is a safe and very picturesque mountain, during the ascent of which everyone can feel like a climber, a real rock climber, while experiencing a huge amount of thrill. All this determines the popularity of the mountain among fans of mountain tourism.
