Description of the attraction
The National Dinosaur Museum is the southern hemisphere's largest permanent exhibition of prehistoric artifacts, located in Gold Creek Village near Canberra. The museum exposition tells about the evolution of life on Earth, with special emphasis on the history of the existence and extinction of dinosaurs. Every year the museum is visited by about 55 thousand people, which makes it one of the most popular in the country. In the gift shop, you can buy one of the many real fossils with a thousand-year history.
Founded in 1993, the museum is constantly expanding its paleontological collections, keeping abreast of cutting-edge scientific discoveries. Today in the museum you can see 23 intact dinosaur skeletons and more than 300 fossils.
With a focus on education and entertainment, the museum offers ample opportunities to explore its exhibits, from guided tours to puppet shows and themed parties for children and teens.
The museum's collections invite you on a journey through time - from the very beginning of Earth's history to the emergence of modern animals. This journey tells about the development of life on our planet and about what amazing creatures the dinosaurs were.
The museum also publishes the magazine "Dinosaur Time", which is published every 4 months and covers the latest discoveries and achievements of paleontology, and an extensive encyclopedia "eDinosauria" dedicated to prehistoric life.
