Description of the attraction

The Church of the Life-Giving Trinity was erected on the site of an old stone church previously located here from the first quarter of the 19th century. The construction of the temple began in 1911 and ended in 1914.

Even before the beginning of the 80s. for historians and ethnographers it remained a mystery to whom the project of the temple belonged. However, later it became known that the project of the temple was developed by the Chelyabinsk hereditary builder, architect P. A. Saraev - a respected person in the city. The construction work was supervised by I. Kulakov. The church was built with funds donated by the industrialist Nikolai Pavlovich Pikhtovnikov.

In the late 1920s, like most of the religious buildings in the city of Chelyabinsk, the Church of the Life-Giving Trinity was “beheaded”. In 1929 the local history museum was located in the church building. A new stage in the life of the temple began in 1990, when it was returned to the faithful again. Restoration work began in the church.

The large red-brick church of the Life-Giving Trinity is made in the pseudo-Russian architectural style. The building has a rather original layout. Above the rectangular volume, one can see a rising five-headed quadruple, which is complicated on all four sides by the so-called faceted apse ledges with semi-domes. There is a hipped-roof bell tower above the entrance to the church.

Today the Church of the Life-Giving Trinity is a functioning temple, which is one of the cult sights of the city of Chelyabinsk.
