Description of the attraction

Canaima National Park is located on the territory of Grand Sabana. This is the name of the numerous hills located in the Karoni river basin. Due to soil erosion, round canyons (“simas”) with a flat bottom and vertical walls are often formed here, the depth of the canyons reaches 350 m. Each of these boards has its own unique flora. According to scientists, each of the plants growing in a single "tepui" is not found anywhere else in the world.

The famous attraction of the park is Angel Falls. Not far from it there is the settlement of Canaima, due to its location in the impenetrable jungle, the city can only be reached by plane. The village is built on the banks of the lagoon in the flood of the Carrao River. Several eco-hotels have been built here on the shore of the lake.

Local guides and tour guides are descendants of the militant tribe of the Pemon Indians who have lived in these lands since time immemorial. In numerous shops you can buy a variety of local souvenirs.

Sapo waterfall makes an unforgettable impression on tourists. The rock from which the waterfall falls is slightly inclined forward and there is a small space at its base. A tourist trail runs along this corridor. On the one side, it is fenced with a stone wall, and on the other side - by streams of water and railings. The width of the trail is 1-1.5 m, the length is about 70-80 m. With the end of the rainy season (November-December), the waterfall becomes full-flowing and then the sensations from such a walk are most impressive.

Near Canaima there is a place called Arekuna, here is the center of ecological tourism - Arekuna Lodge. Here tourists are invited to take a boat trip to the rapids of Los Bobos, while walking you can meet local residents washing gold. They move with the help of large makeshift rafts, using pumps, lift the sand, and, passing it through filters, search for gold.
