Description of the attraction
Nydri is a small charming town on the east coast of the Greek island of Lefkada. It is located in an amazingly picturesque place among olive groves and hills overgrown with pine and cypress trees about 20 km south of the capital of the island of the same name.
Today Nydri is one of the best and most popular resorts in Lefkada. Magnificent beaches, crystal-clear and warm waters of the Ionian Sea, as well as a well-developed tourist infrastructure attract a huge number of tourists here every year. Nydri has a good selection of hotels and cozy apartments, many excellent restaurants and taverns, as well as supermarkets, markets, ATMs, pharmacies and much more. During the summer season, nightclubs are open, where you can relax and have fun until the morning. Along the promenade you will find many nice bars, cafes and various tourist shops. Active guests can enjoy a variety of water sports in Nydri, as well as go cycling or wander through the picturesque surroundings.
Nydri has a small port of its own, where numerous fishing boats, sailboats and luxury white yachts dock. Here you can rent a motor boat or speedboat and visit the satellite islands of Lefkada, as well as the picturesque secluded coves and famous beaches of the island. There is also a regular ferry service to the islands of Meganisi, Ithaca and Kefalonia. The port of Nydri is the center of sailing in Lefkada and the site where the famous Ionian Regatta starts annually in September.
Among the main attractions of Nydri are the small Folklore Museum in the city center and the stunning Dimossari waterfalls (about 4 km from Nydri). The charming little church of Agia Kiriyaki is also worth a visit. Lovers of archeology will be interested in the ruins of a prehistoric settlement.
Directly opposite Nydri is a small private island of Skorpios, which until recently belonged to the family of the famous Greek billionaire Aristotle Onassis.
