Description of the attraction

The resort of Santa Maria del Mar is located 50 kilometers from Lima, that is, forty minutes by transport. Tourists and Peruvians themselves come here to spend a hot summer day in nature, by the sea.

In the 40s, spa resorts began to open on the Peruvian coast. So, in 1944, Luis de Bernardis Davila, when developing a private project with his brothers Benito and Américo de Bernardis, seeing the beauty of the beach, abruptly changes his interests, as well as the direction in business and hands over the reins to his relative, Elias Fernandini Clotet. Then he builds a house here for himself and several houses for his friends on the top of a hill near the sea.

Soon the Esmeralda Maritime Club was built here, designed by two engineers - Eduardo Alfonso and Lituma Ridoutt. The best memories of people of that time are the time spent in the club, the unique holidays that took place there. The most memorable was the 1961 French Versailles-style carnival party. That evening there was classical music and ballet dancing around the pool. And today, visitors to the club will remember the time spent in the club with warmth and love, and will want to return to this amazing place again.

Santa Maria del Mar Beach is an attractive resort for surfers, as the sea in this area is often unpredictable, its strength can vary depending on the ocean currents off the Peruvian coast.

At the end of the twentieth century, the area of Santa Maria del Mar became one of the most beautiful resorts on the Peruvian coast with tennis courts, swimming pools, shady parks and beautiful houses, as well as the wonderful beaches of Santa Maria and Embazadores.
