Description of the attraction

The Industrial Museum of Bristol acquaints visitors with the history of the development of industry - transport, automotive, printing and aviation.

The museum is located on two floors in the building of the former port hangar. The transport section of the museum presents various bicycles, motorcycles, buses and cars. Since Bristol is now the center of the British aviation industry, a large place in the exposition is devoted to airplanes and helicopters. But Bristol is also one of the most important ports - and the history of shipbuilding and port equipment occupies a large place in the museum. In particular, the external display features a working sample of a steam port crane made in 1878.

In the hall dedicated to printing, working samples of printing presses and printing equipment are exhibited. Museum brochures, tickets, etc. are printed on them.

A separate exhibition is dedicated to the history of the slave trade and the role of the Bristol port in the African slave trade.

In 2006, the Industrial Museum was closed for renovation and reopened in 2011 under the name M Shed.
