Description of the attraction

The construction of the Euxinograd Palace, designed by the German architect Lers, began in 1861. The first name of the palace was Sandrovo - after the name of its founder, Alexander, but later the palace was called Euxinograd, after the ancient Greek name of the Black Sea ("Pontus Euxinia" - "hospitable sea"). Over the years, the palace was ruled by Prince Alexander Batenberg, Ferdinand of Saxeburgottsky and his son, Tsar Boris III (until 1944).

There is a beautiful park next to the palace, the creation of which dates back to 1890. To break it down, more than 50 thousand trees and fertile soil from the river mouth were brought here. The beautiful cedars and palms planted at that time still adorn these places. Visitors to the park can also see a small lake and a nearby bronze sculpture of Neptune. Most of this work was commissioned by Tsar Ferdinand and cost Bulgaria almost one and a half million gold leva.

The palace building itself is relatively small, which, however, only gives it charm and grace. On the first floor there are reception rooms, a music room and a dining room, on the second there are bedrooms and lounges, on the third floor a servant lived. Of the interior items, the most interesting are antique furniture made of walnut and mahogany and massive, one might even say gigantic, chandeliers. Another interesting piece of the interior is an old sundial, a gift from Queen Victoria to the owners of the castle.

And, finally, the last attraction of Euxinograd is the wine hut, where from 1891 to the present day excellent quality wine has been produced and stored.
