On the Costa Brava, in the vicinity of Blanes, there is an amazing botanical garden with tropical plants "Pigna de Rosa". The botanical garden was created by the careful hands of its founder, Dr. Fernando Riviera de Caralta, who in 1945 acquired a plot of land and began to plant the first green spaces on it.
Today the garden covers an area of almost 50 thousand square meters. meters. This is the largest cactus garden on our planet. The garden is divided into many zones dedicated to certain types of plants. In total, there are about 7 thousand species of representatives of the Mediterranean flora alone in the garden. Added to these are a huge number of plants brought from other continents. Here you can see collections of yucca, agave, cactus, prickly pear, aloe. Some collections are recognized by experts as the best in the world - for example, the collection of prickly pears, conophytums.
Plant collections have been painstakingly collected over a long period of time. They continue to replenish now. About 1.5 thousand plants are sown annually, some of which serve to expand existing collections, and some are new. The flowering period in the Pigna de Rosa Botanical Garden lasts for a whole year. The brightness of colors and the variety of shapes and sizes of flowers are striking, and the heady aroma, which intensifies in the evening, when the flowers are fully revealed, remains in the memory of every visitor of the garden for a long time.
On the territory of the botanical garden there is a cafe, benches where you can relax, an ornamental fish pond and even a small reed bungalow.
