The Lesya Ukrainka Museum in the Crimean resort town of Yalta is one of four museums in Ukraine dedicated to the great poetess. The museum is located on Ekaterininskaya Street, 8, in the former mansion of the merchant E. F. Lishchinskaya.

Lesya Ukrainka (real name Larisa Petrovna Kosach-Kvitka) from early childhood was a painful and problem child. At the age of 10, the future poetess fell ill with a very severe form of bone tuberculosis, as a result of which the doctors recommended that L. Ukrainka's parents keep her away from the cold. Therefore, in the winter season, Lesya left her home and moved south, she returned to her native places in late spring.

In the early 70s, on the eve of the 100th anniversary of the birth of the poetess, an initiative group was founded in the city of Yalta to create a museum of L. Ukrainka, thanks to which a monument to the writer was erected, a memorial plaque was erected on the house in which in 1897 she lived and began collecting exhibits. The persecution of the national intelligentsia, which took place in the 70s. XX century, stopped working on the museum. In the house where the museum was planned to be founded, an exposition of the "Museum of Pre-Revolutionary Progressive Ukrainian and Russian Culture" was opened. In September 1993, thanks to the initiative of the Yalta City Society "Prosvita", the Yalta City Executive Committee decided to give the exposition "Lesya Ukrainka and Crimea" the status of "Museum of Lesia Ukrainka".

L. Ukrainka created a whole cycle of poems "Crimean echoes", "Crimean memories", the dramatic scene "Iphigenia in Taurida" and the story "Over the sea". A museum dedicated to the outstanding poetess was opened for the 120th anniversary of her birth. The exposition of the Lesya Ukrainka Museum presents: lifetime editions of the writer's works, photographs of her family and friends, furniture of the late 19th - early 20th centuries, drawings of the last quarter of the 19th century. and Ukrainian national costumes.
