Description of the attraction
Manama Souk is an old bazaar in the capital of Bahrain. Located in the north of Manama, in the heart of the ancient quarters of the city, between the central business district of Noaim Ras Rumman and near the only synagogue in Bahrain, near Bab al-Bahrain.
It is an old and bustling place with many traditional shops selling spices, fabrics, caftans, sweets, handicrafts, souvenirs, dried fruits, nuts, etc. There are also modern shops in the market.
Manama Suk has been subject to redevelopment of its relatively original design. It is divided into a new part and an old part. The new part is pedestrianized, while the old part has roads for cars and sidewalks for pedestrians. The central part is occupied by the market for gold products of various standards and jewelry made from high-quality local pearls. Bahraini pearls are highly valued in the world as they grow in natural conditions, and not on farms.
For those who want to feel the amazing flavor of the East and see with their own eyes the mixture of different cultures, the old market in Manama is just a godsend. Buyers and sellers from Bahrain and other countries (India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Egypt, representatives of neighboring Arab states of the Persian Gulf), tourists from all over the world meet here.
