Description of the attraction

The history of the Church of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary dates back to 2000, when a civil building located at 161 Lev Tolstoy Street was transferred to the temple. This building at different times housed children's institutions: a kindergarten, a pioneer house. According to the decree of 22.08.2000, Priest Georgy Kuzmenko became the rector of the church. From that time on, morning and evening prayers began to be held in the church.

In October 2000, the religious community of the Nativity of the Most Holy Theotokos was created. Regular services began in March 2001, arched windows were erected on the second floor, a temporary iconostasis was set up, and vestments and utensils were purchased. After that, the church began to acquire its modern look. Winters 2001-2002 the monastery survived without heating. After that, an autonomous heating system was launched.

In early 2003, extensive construction and renovation of the temple began. The bell tower, main dome, onion and drum were installed. In the same year, a cross was consecrated and erected, and then the dome of the bell tower was erected. In the spring of 2004, the first five bells of Volyn casting appeared. The largest bell weighed 65 kilograms. A year later, the bells were installed, weighing 95 and 345 kilograms.

Many people contributed to the building of the Church of the Nativity of the Most Holy Theotokos, primarily parishioners with their feasible donations. Invaluable assistance in the construction of the temple was provided by the head of the sea trade port A. V. Kotovsky, the former head of the sea fishing port V. N. Litvinov, head of the "Inflot-Universal" company Yu. V. Shabarov.

At present, in the Church of the Nativity of the Most Holy Theotokos, liturgies, evening services, prayers to the saints, memorial services, the sacrament of repentance are performed. At the temple there are adult and children's Sunday schools, a video room and a library.
