Description of the attraction
Piast Park was founded in 1902-1904 on the high hill of the same name overlooking the town of Zielona Gora. This is an amazing corner of wildlife that is home to squirrels and several species of birds. Forest lands that surround the city are adjacent to the park. Hikers in the surrounding forests usually start their excursions on the paths of this park. People come here with children, for whom there is a playground. Athletes use trails with ideal surfaces for jogging or cycling. Botanists and simply lovers of flora will find here about 100 species of rare plants, among which there are unique specimens. For example, here you can see a beech, whose trunk is 377 cm in girth, or a linden tree, which has 4 fused trunks.
Lovers of beautiful photographs visit these green spaces. Especially picturesque views can be seen from the banks of the Pustelnik stream, which flows through the territory of the Piast Park.
There are also several residential buildings here. This is the former hotel "Pästenhof", which is now a bishop's residence, and the Anna Hermann amphitheater. Some time ago it was planned to build a Palm Pavilion here, but this idea remained unrealized due to the complexity of the construction of the steel frame of the building. Then they wanted to build a gym in the park and some private buildings intended for everyday life. Fortunately, construction has not begun. In 2010, Piast Park was reconstructed, making it more convenient for the movement of large masses of people. Thus, the city authorities decided to relieve the Yaskoltsa street, which is parallel to the park.
