Description of the attraction

The Novosibirsk Planetarium is a new modern complex, which is a complex scientific and technical structure. The Novosibirsk Planetarium is the newest planetarium in Russia and the largest in its Asian part. It is located far from the populated areas of the city. The initiators of the construction deliberately decided to place this institution away from the bright city lights, since they can interfere with a good view of the starry sky.

The history of the creation of the planetarium began in September 2006 after the first astronomical forum in Siberia. It was then that local astronomy lovers turned to the city authorities with a proposal to build their own astrophysical center. Already in December 2006, Mayor V. Gorodetsky considered this issue at the first meeting. The project of the future planetarium was developed by the architect I. Popovsky. The original project was split into two parts. The first phase consisted of the construction of the Astrophysical Center, the park and the Foucault tower. The opportunity to implement the project began at the end of 2009. The grand opening of the Planetarium children's and youth center took place in February 2012, just on the day of the celebration of Russian science.

The building of the Novosibirsk Planetarium is two-story. The ground floor houses a film studio, as well as office, technical and other utility rooms. The second hall was occupied by a star hall, two observatory towers, a huge hall, classrooms and a cafe-dining room. The star hall is designed for 114 people. The diameter of the dome that covers it is 16 m. The Star Hall is equipped with the latest projection equipment. Under the starry hall there is a film and video studio with a filming pavilion, equipped with modern video equipment that allows shooting in HD format. From the second floor of the Novosibirsk Planetarium you can go to the observatory tower attached to the main building. In the halls of the first and second floors of the planetarium, there is a museum with various interactive exhibits demonstrating the laws and phenomena of physics, as well as models of astronomical telescopes and spaceships.
