Description of the attraction
Donetsk Digital Planetarium is one of the landmarks of Donetsk. The planetarium is located in the Sokol public garden on Artem Street, 46-B. The Planetarium is a world-class state-of-the-art cultural, educational and entertainment facility built with all the latest technology in mind. There are about four thousand planetariums all over the world, of which only 200 are digital, and the Donetsk planetarium is one of the best.
For the first time a planetarium appeared in Donetsk in 1962, and a modern building was opened in 2008.
In this digital planetarium, visitors can, using special technologies, find themselves inside the vast outer space. Thanks to the three-dimensional image, visitors are given the opportunity to observe our universe from any angle, follow the movement of the planets and view them from a fairly close distance, fly across the entire solar system, etc. In the Donetsk Planetarium, you have access to the most incredible and fantastic stories. Using special equipment, it is possible to simulate both visual and audio effects, which gives the viewer the feeling of a real stellar journey.
The hall of this planetarium has about 88 seats. It is quite comfortable and very cozy. The dome diameter is 12 meters. The planetarium very often hosts special sessions for children and animation shows. Thanks to digital equipment, it is possible to display the topography, atmospheric characteristics and geological parameters of the planets of the entire solar system.
The Stargazer store is located on the planetarium territory, where you can buy your first own telescope.
In April 2011, the planetarium was named after the pilot-cosmonaut Beregovoy Georgy Timofeevich, a native of the Donetsk region.
