Description of the attraction
Ayuk waterfall in Goryachy Klyuch is one of the main natural attractions of the resort. The waterfall is located 10 kilometers from the Fanagoria village (Goryacheklyuchevsky district) on the Burlachenkova Shchel stream, on the left tributary of the Chepsi River.
Ayuk waterfall has two stages, the height of its lower step is 5 meters, and the height of the upper one is 4 meters. A special attraction of this waterfall is its ten-meter bath, formed under the flow of falling water at the base of the waterfall in the rocky soft sandstone. Another feature of the waterfall is the unusually white color of the water streams, which is created by a huge amount of air bubbles that form the waterfall jets.
The name of the waterfall is directly related to the Ayuk River, which originates on the slope of the Main Caucasian Range and flows into the Chepsi River. Based on the name of the waterfall, the ancient Circassians who lived here, most likely, did not really like these places, since the word “Ayuko” is translated from the Circassian language as: “bad, unkind valley”. However, modern people, unlike the Circassians, like this place very much. Exotic swimming in the forest to the sound of water, a large bath under a waterfall with extraordinary white water and amazing nature make this place quite popular among vacationers.
You can get to Ayuk waterfall either by car or by regular bus. Travelers will have to overcome the ford on the Chepsi River and walk 6 kilometers through the forest. Near the waterfall, you can see the Small Fanagoria cave. The cave is shallow and narrow, so it is not very interesting to visit.
