Description of the attraction
The House of Others is a museum of science fiction, utopia and extraordinary events. Today, it is also considered a non-profit foundation, functioning both as a public museum and as a specialized research center. Initially, it was located in an ordinary apartment of three rooms, and it was only planned to make it a museum. In 1989, it was decided to open it in a renovated old prison, the historic building of which was built in 1806 and is located in the city center.
The archives of the museum contain approximately 70 thousand documents related to science fiction or utopia (books, toys, etc.), including some very old (16th century) and unique items. The museum's collections are used for iconographic purposes or research (literature, history of ideas, design, etc.). Here you can even find figurines of the characters of the acclaimed Star Wars work - after all, it describes in most detail the possible appearance and life of aliens from various civilizations of the universe. You can also see portraits of world famous science fiction writers here - from Jules Verne and HG Wells to contemporary renowned authors. Their works are also in the collection of the House of Others.
In parallel, the museum annually organizes several temporary exhibitions dedicated to the main themes of science fiction (cities of the future, space flights). The exhibitions are varied and are organized free of charge in order to attract a wide audience.
The House of Others is the only government institution of its kind in the world.
