Description of the attraction

Nervi is a former fishing village 7 km from Genoa, now a resort area that became part of the city. It is located 25 meters above sea level. Today, this small village is surrounded by olive, orange and lemon groves and is lined with luxurious villas immersed in flowers. The climate here is humid, more pleasant than on the nearby Riviera di Ponente, which is part of the Italian Riviera west of Genoa. It is especially suitable for those with lung conditions.

There are several interesting museums in Nervi that are not deprived of the attention of tourists. Thus, in the Gallery of Modern Art in the building of the former Villa Serra and in the gallery "Raccolte Frugone" paintings, sculptures and drawings by Italian and foreign artists of the 19th and 20th centuries are collected. Here you can also get acquainted with the cultural history of Genoa and Liguria in general. Museum "Wolfsoniana" is a regional museum of the International University of Florida (Miami, USA), which exhibits various items of the 19th and 20th centuries - architectural sketches, graphics, posters, drawings, books and other publications, as well as sculpture, furniture, ceramics, products made of silver and wrought iron. The Giannettino Luxoro Museum boasts a unique collection of watches from the 18th and 19th centuries, ceramics, interior items and antique clothing, all housed in a restored villa.

The special pride of Nervi is the 2-kilometer promenade of Anita Garibaldi, which stretches along the sea cliffs. The views that open up here are considered one of the most beautiful in Italy.

In addition, in Nervi there is an amazingly beautiful park spread over an area of 9 hectares and consisting of the gardens of Villa Grimaldi, Villa Gropallo and Villa Serra. The park features typical Mediterranean vegetation as well as many exotic species of trees and flowers. It is adjoined by the gardens of Villa Luxoro, which now houses a museum, and Villa Gnecco, converted into a luxury hotel.
