Description of the attraction

The Rusenski Lom National Natural Park is located not far from Ruse - just 20 kilometers south of this Bulgarian city. The park got its name from the river of the same name, which is the last right tributary of the Danube. In 1970, Rusenski Lom, with an area of about 3,300 hectares, was registered as a protected area.

Rusenski Lom Park is distinguished by a variety of landscapes, flora and fauna, in addition, there are unique historical monuments. All this makes the park an extremely interesting place to visit; conditions for walking, ecological and educational tourism have been created here.

About nine hundred species of plants grow in the natural park, the fauna is also extremely diverse: amphibians (10 species, 5 of them are protected by law), reptiles (19 species), mammals (66 species), as well as fish, snails, crayfish and river mussels. The class of birds is represented here most generously - 190 species, of which 110 are nesting.

Several different eco-paths have been laid along the territory of the park: these are specially designed isolated routes of different lengths, allowing you to study the landscape features, assess the biological diversity of the park, and visit archaeological sites. Visitors to the park will be able to see the unique century-old elm, the Rusenski Lom River and its tributaries Cherni Lom, Beli Lom, Malki Lom, an ancient Christian cemetery of the 17th century, rocky nests of rare birds, hunting bats and much more.

In the Rusenski Lom park there are Ivanovskie churches - a unique rock complex, which is under the protection of UNESCO and is part of the World Cultural Heritage. There is also another object here - the ruins of the Cherven Fortress: a watchtower, foundations of churches, boyar houses, gates, remains of the fortress wall, as well as unique structures for water supply.

On the territory of the park, there are many places for recreation, there are special centers for making a fire, all routes are marked.
