Description of the attraction

Compton Acres Gardens, located near the resort town of Bournemouth, are a fine example of gardening art of the early 20th century. They consist of several different gardens: the Italian garden, the Japanese garden, the heather garden, the rock and water garden, and the Forest Valley garden.

The Italian garden surrounding the villa with fountains, flower beds and ornately trimmed trees is a magnificent example of a formal garden. Of particular interest are the bronze sculptures in the garden.

The Japanese Garden at Compton Akres is considered one of the finest gardens of this type in Britain. The tea house is covered with climbing plants and decorated with authentic works of Japanese arts and crafts.

The Heather Garden is beautiful at any time of the year, but a particularly colorful picture can be seen here in spring. The garden contains various types of heather from all over the world.

The Garden of Water and Rocks is one of the largest privately owned gardens of its kind. The combination of alpine slides and small ponds and more than 300 plant species produces a magnificent effect.

The least formal garden is Forest Valley. A pine grove with winding paths and picturesque waterfalls, shade-loving plants and shrubs create an atmosphere of calm and tranquility.

The gardens are privately owned. Paid entrance. There is a cafe and a gift shop. The rules state that "well-bred dogs on a leash" are allowed in the gardens.
