Description of the attraction
Doi Pha Hom Pok National Park is one of the best in northern Thailand, it got its name from the second largest peak in the country, Mount Doi Phahom Pok. The park covers an area of 524 square kilometers and is bordered by Myanmar in the north and west.
Most of the park is a mountain range with heights from 400 to 2,285 meters above sea level. The most important peaks: Doi Bhu Muen, Doi Ang Hang and Doi Phahom Pok, annually attract many climbers from all over the world.
The average annual temperature in the park is 12-19 ° С, which makes it an excellent option for recreation in the hot spring and summer period. However, in the winter months, a mark of 2 ° C was recorded on the tops of the mountains.
The fauna of the park is quite diverse, most of it is rare species. Here you can find wild boars, pythons, macaques, as well as birds that live exclusively in northern Thailand. Species of butterflies that have practically disappeared from the face of the Earth are also sometimes found on the territory of the national park. Its flora is made up of rainforests, which the locals call “the protective warm blanket”. Probably referring to the richness and density of vegetation. Rare orchid species are endemic to these territories.
In addition to the fresh mountain air, the park impresses with an abundance of waterfalls, hot springs and caves. The Huay Born Cave has an impressive size of 20x30 meters and contains many beautiful stalactites and stalagmites, which are a valuable material for cavers who visit the park. The powerful Pong Naam Daang waterfall does not dry up even in summer. The force with which the Taad Mhork Falls falls down creates many small drops. This water / air mist creates a truly magical sensation.
In the hot springs of the national park, you can not only take a bath with diluted thermal water, but also cook your own lunch in special tanks with boiling liquid at 100 ° C.
