Description of the attraction

Soviet writer Konstantin Mikhailovich Simonov spent his childhood, adolescence and youth in a two-story house on Michurin Street (formerly Malaya Sergievskaya Street). The building where the young poet lived with his parents belonged to the military department and the families of the servicemen of the Saratov division were located on the first floor as a friendly commune. Simonov's stepfather, Alexander Ivanovich Ivanishchev, a member of two soldiers and a reserve commander, taught tactics at a retraining school for command personnel located nearby (the building of the theological seminary). Mother - Princess Obolenskaya (after marriage, changing her surname, did not advertise her aristocratic origin), patiently endured all the hardships of the commander's wife, actively participating in various commissions for assistance.

Konstantin Mikhailovich Simonov (at birth the name was given - Cyril, but if it was impossible to clearly pronounce the sounds "l" and "r" the name was arbitrarily changed), in his youth he became the author of the poems "Suvorov" and "Battle on the Ice", in wartime in all theaters of the country plays were staged: "A guy from our city", "Russian people". Nationwide fame and love came to Simonov after the publication of a collection of poems, when people far from poetry quoted lines from "Wait for Me" in letters from the front. Already in peacetime, Konstantin Mikhailovich began to print novels that became classics, which later appeared on movie screens with legendary actors.

In Saratov, in addition to the writer's house, there is a monument and a memorial plaque on the building of the vocational school where the young Simonov studied once. Streets are named after him in Moscow, Mogilev and Gulkevichi. In 1984, the four-deck motor ship "Konstantin Simonov" was launched in the GDR and there is an asteroid of the same name "2426 Simonov".

After the restoration of the building where KM Simonov lived, the new owner was the "Committee for the Protection of Cultural Heritage".
