Description of the attraction
The famous 400-meter beach of Kokkino Limanaki (“Red Bay” in Greek) with sand and pebbles is located about 29 kilometers east of the center of Athens and one and a half kilometers from the northern port of Rafina. Several hotel complexes have been built in the immediate vicinity of the beach; vacationers from the neighboring villages of Artemis (Lutsa), Nea Makri and other summer resorts come here.
The beach itself is not very well equipped, but since it is located almost within the city limits, it is an excellent place for relaxation, swimming and various types of recreation. In addition, the beach is protected from northerly and southerly winds by red rocks.
Intercity buses operate regularly to Rafina, and you can rent a taxi, car or motorcycle. Parking can be difficult on weekends, especially in August. The nearby town of Rafina offers a wide range of food, entertainment and nightlife, and the beach is within walking distance.
