Description of the attraction
Today the island of Mykonos is one of the most popular tourist destinations in Greece. The island is famous for its many stunning beaches, crystal clear waters of the Aegean Sea and excellent resorts with excellent infrastructure.
Platis Yialos is one of the best and oldest resorts in Mykonos. It is located on the south coast of the island in a small, rolling bay, about 4 km from the island's capital of the same name, also known as Chora. Getting to Platis Yialos is quite simple, as a regular bus runs from the capital every half hour. However, you can also get there by taxi or rented car.
Previously, Platis Gialos had a reputation for being an exceptionally quiet family resort (sand, perfect coastline, playgrounds, etc.), but in recent years it has become more cosmopolitan. There is a fairly good selection of hotels and apartments (which should be booked in advance) and many excellent restaurants, taverns and bars. The beautifully organized and magnificent sandy beach of Platis Gialos is one of the largest and most popular on the island. Not far from Platis Gialos are the beaches of Psarou and Paranga.
If a monotonous passive beach vacation is not for you and you love active pastime, a variety of water sports are at your service. The island of Delos, located in the immediate vicinity of Mykonos, is also worth a visit - one of the most significant archaeological sites in Greece. You can also take a water taxi and go to the famous beaches of the southern coast of Mykonos such as Elia, Paradise, Super Paradise, etc.
