Even those who are completely uninterested in world history are often partial to dinosaurs. And no wonder. These creatures seem almost fabulous, unreal. But they did exist. It is impossible to imagine them in our world. But they lived here. Many people dream of seeing them with their own eyes. But how to do that?..

It's actually very simple. And in this text we will tell you about where in Moscow you can see dinosaurs.

Dinopark

Moscow Dinopark is a real paradise for dinosaur lovers. There are several dozen figures of ancient reptiles here. The height of the exhibits can reach 9 m. Periodically, the roar of prehistoric dinosaurs can be heard over the territory of the park.

By the way, here you can see not only numerous dinosaurs, but also other animals - for example, mammoths. There is even a figure of a caveman here.

In this text we will tell you a little about some of the dinosaurs, the figures of which you will see in Dinopark.

Allosaurus

These dinosaurs walked exclusively on their hind legs. At the same time, they cannot be called erect: the body was in a horizontal position. The front legs of this strange creature were comparatively meek and weak. But the hind legs were really powerful.

Especially many skeletons of these animals were found in one of the quarries in the US state of Utah. Why did so many Allosaurs die here? Scientists managed to reconstruct the chain of events that preceded this death.

Once upon a time, there was a swamp on the site of the quarry. For some reason, it took a brachiosaurus (a huge long-necked dinosaur) to go there. Of course he's stuck. Only a head on a long neck towered over the bog. The captive lizard roared loudly. He called for help. But instead of help, many Allosaurs came running to him, dreaming of fresh meat. And, of course, they all got stuck in the swamp too. More than 40 lizards remained in the quagmire.

Spinosaurus

And this strange creature has long been known to scientists only by descriptions. The skeleton was found at the beginning of the 20th century, taken to the museum, but destroyed there during the war. The museum where the bones were housed was bombed. Only descriptions of the remains of an ancient creature have survived.

Fortunately, other skeletons of spinosaurs were later found. Archaeologists have discovered them in Africa and Latin America.

Pterosaur

As the name suggests, this animal is adept at flying. Its appearance resembled dragons from medieval legends. Its wingspan could reach 11 m. However, there were also small individuals (for example, the size of a modern cat).

For a long time, scientists remained a mystery how these bulky creatures could fly. And they flew very well: the flight speed was over 100 km / h.

Someone argued that the answer lies in the earth's atmosphere: in ancient times it was denser. This, as believed by some scientists, helped the lizards to stay in the air. There were also other hypotheses on this topic. But how did these creatures manage to take off? How did they lift their heavy body off the ground? There is an assumption that for this they had to jump.

And it is still not clear from what exactly these mysterious creatures died out.

Mamensisaurus

The name of this dinosaur is not on everyone's lips, but it is no less remarkable than the others. The length of the neck of the Mamensisaurus could reach 15 m. Moreover, it was half of the entire length of the lizard.

Dilophosaurus

The head of this lizard was decorated with a comb. What was it for? Scientists disagree. Here are the versions:

  • attracting a partner;
  • recognition of lizards of their own kind;
  • thermoregulation.

Zoo museum

The Lomonosov Zoological Museum is another place worth visiting for dinosaur lovers. You are in the reptile department. There you will see animals, which in our time are "messengers" of the era of giant lizards.

One of the most interesting exhibits is the tuatara. This, of course, is not a dinosaur, but it is also a very ancient creature. And it still exists in our time - in New Zealand.

A visit to the places we have named causes the effect of a time machine. Going out into the street from the territory of the Dinopark or from the doors of the museum, you will see the world in a new way. Do you want to experience this feeling? Then go ahead to meet the ancient lizards!
