On the south side, Syria (capital - Damascus), which is located in the Middle East (Asia), is bordered by Jordan, on the north - Turkey, on the east - Iraq, and on the southwest - Israel and Lebanon. As for the western Syrian shores, they have access to the Mediterranean Sea.
The Jebel Ansaria mountain range, with an average height of over 1200 m, divided Syria (area - 185200 sq. Km) into eastern and western parts. Northwest Syria is a fertile coastal plain, but for the most part the country lies on an arid plateau (there are the Jabal-Bishri, Dajabl-ar-Ruwak and others). On the south side of the mountains is the city of Homs, and on the north - the Hamad Desert.
The country is divided into governorates: Idlib, Deir ez-Zor, Tartus, Hama, Essaweida, Haseke, El-Quneitra and others (there are 14 in total).
How to get to Syria?
In calm times, Syria and Russia were connected by the Moscow - Damascus flight - everyone was sent by Aeroflot (Sunday and Thursday) and Syrian Airlines (departure airport - Vnukovo; flights were poisoned on Tuesdays and Saturdays). The flight time is 3.5 hours. As for the citizens of Minsk, Kiev and Almaty, Turkish Airlines offered them to fly to the Syrian capital.
