Capital excursions in Mauritius
If a guest wants a rich cultural program, then the most vivid impressions await him in the capital of the state - the city of Port Louis. The main city of the country has beautiful architectural structures, cultural institutions, and cozy restaurants with traditional cuisine. The walk begins with sightseeing of architectural sights, among which the following objects stand out: the buildings of the Parliament and the Government House; Maeswarat is a temple where Hindus and Tamils pray; Cathedral of Saint Louis and Cathedral of Saint James; Jumma Mosque; citadel of Adelaide.
In addition to the capital's highlights, interesting to tourists, there are other places on the island and in its environs that are worthy of a visit of any distinguished guest.
Paradise travel
In Mauritius, you can go with an excursion to anywhere on the island, for example, in the north is the Cape of Cap Malere. Its highlight is the church with the difficult-to-pronounce name Notre Dame Oxyllatris, but its appearance and beautiful interiors will remain in memory for a long time. Near the cape is the village of Triolet, which is mainly inhabited by fishermen. The Hindu temple, the largest in Mauritius, brought glory to this place. Not far from the coast you can see Deer Island, the best place for diving or sailing among tourists.
Popular travels in the national parks of the island - Casella and La Vanille. In Casella Park, you can admire exotic trees and shrubs, get acquainted with the world of local fauna, even see tamed cheetahs or lions. The park with the tasty name La Vanille offers a very funny entertainment for tourists - riding on ancient turtles.
Journey to the "City of Light"
Many guests call Curpipe one of the most interesting cities in Mauritius, and the locals themselves dubbed it "City of Light". It is located in the southern part of the island, but on a rather high plateau, therefore, compared to the rest of the country, it is always cool here, it often rains.
The city is of interest to tourists, although it is located far from the coast. There are natural sights here, as well as those created by human hands, the first, of course, are much larger. Near the town is the Murra volcano (aka Trou aux Cerfs), travelers love to get to its top, and take pictures against the background of the emerald green crater. The most daring try to go down.
The second attraction in the City of Light is Monvert, a natural park. It is interesting that at first there was an active development of territories, deforestation, then people decided to restore the forest, now you can see a gorgeous arboretum and gardens. Especially for wildlife lovers, there is a corner that has not been touched by human hands (axes); a hiking trail has been laid through the virgin forest.
The botanical garden is one of the interesting sites for tourists, it is located a few kilometers from the Curpipe. It is interesting that they founded a gorgeous garden in 1870 for growing rhododendrons and azaleas; today, plants that are on the verge of survival are carefully preserved in it, for example, a palm tree, which exists in a single copy on earth.
Residents of Curpipe are ready to acquaint tourists with architectural highlights, historic buildings and architectural masterpieces, among which the following stand out: the building of the Old Town Hall, located in Moka and moved from there in 1903; Basilica of Saint Helena; Church of St. Teresa; St Joseph's College and King's College buildings are national treasures of the country. These and other sights of the "City of Light" will remain in the photographs and videos of tourists, reminding them of a wonderful trip.
Along the Black River
Another famous national park in Mauritius bears the name "Black River Gorge", it is the largest on the island and occupies almost 3.5% of its territory. It is here that the highest point is located, which is called completely unoriginal - "the peak of the Black River".
It is best to travel around the park in September-November, when the time of flowering comes and the territory is radically transformed. Guided tours include hiking trails, tourist buses or jeeps.
