Worldwide popular carnivals are usually held at the end of winter and precede the onset of Lent. The seaside resort towns are quite another matter! For example, the carnival in Gelendzhik, which has a history of almost forty years, symbolizes the beginning of the beach season and is held on the first weekend of June.
For the first time, the holiday took place in 1977, and during the entire time of the carnival, its organizers and organizers managed to develop certain traditions.
Mountains and the sea have always served as natural backdrops for colorful carnival processions in Gelendzhik. The participants of the festival build platforms based on cars, which symbolize boats and sailboats, marine life and fantastic animals.
The program includes dozens of exciting events and each carnival day is scheduled literally by the minute. The festival opens on the main stage in the Central Square of the city on the evening of the first Saturday in June. But from the very morning, the opening is preceded by dozens of interesting exciting events:

The carnival procession begins in the late afternoon at the intersection of Morskaya and Lunacharsky streets and moves towards Central Square, where the opening ceremony of the carnival in Gelendzhik is held at 8 pm.
Stars of the all-Russian scale usually become participants of the evening gala concert, and the first day of the festival ends with a dance party on Pogodin Square with the participation of well-known DJs in the country.
Hot air balloon carnival
Professionals from the balloon modeling studio have been participating in the carnival in Gelendzhik for several years. They create original compositions from balloons and usually perform on the second day of the holiday on Lermontov Square.
