Washed in the west by the waters of the Caspian Sea, Turkmenistan, however, is not considered a popular resort destination. Tours here are preferred only by fans of Central Asian exoticism, widely represented by oriental carpets, flowering valleys in the heart of the endless desert, medieval minarets and fragrant pilaf. Recently, talks about the development of such a tourist destination as a beach holiday in Turkmenistan have been heard more and more clearly, and the first swallows among Russian travelers are already exploring the shores of the warm Caspian Sea.
Where to go to sunbathe?
The choice of Turkmen beach resorts is still small and the main place of concentration of hotels on the shores of the Caspian Sea is the national tourist zone "Avaza". A few interesting facts about her will be useful to a potential traveler:
- The grandiose construction of the resort area began in 2007.
- The name "Avaza" comes from the word "zhilavaz", which is translated from Turkmen as "east wind".
- All hotels built on the territory of the tourist zone have at least four stars on the facade and are decorated with white marble.
- Avaza has its own yacht club and sports complex, tennis courts and disco clubs. A water park, dolphinarium, planetarium, cycle track and golf courses are under construction.
- The multilevel car park allows you to park several thousand cars at the same time.
- Pools with seawater make family vacations with young children comfortable and safe.
Hotels in the Avaza resort area are distinguished by a high level of service. Reviews of previous guests and photos allow us to judge the oriental splendor and even luxury both in public areas of hotels and in rooms.
Among the presented accommodation options are standard, family and luxury rooms. Each room is equipped with everything you need for a comfortable stay, including modern air conditioning systems and high-speed internet access. Three meals a day are usually included in the room rate, and you can find dishes of both Eastern and European cuisine in the menus of hotel restaurants.
Kind with healthy
Many hotels in the beach recreation area in Turkmenistan have health centers. The modern medical and diagnostic base allows us to offer guests a variety of medical and cosmetology programs and individual procedures that allow them to strengthen their health and delight themselves with pleasant body and face care. Among the healing factors - volcanic volcanic mud, saturated with iodine and bromine, acupuncture and treatment with thermal waters and ultrasound, cosmetic wraps with seaweed and much more.
Weather features of a beach holiday in Turkmenistan
Central Asia is one of the hottest regions on the planet and Turkmenistan is no exception on this list. The harsh continental climate of the country guarantees cold winters with frosts down to –20 ° С in the very heart of the desert and an unusually hot summer, when thermometers often storm the + 50 ° С mark.
The resort area in the Caspian lowland differs from other regions of the country in a rather mild climate. At the height of summer, it can be up to + 35 ° С, but the heat is easily tolerated due to low air humidity. The most favorable time for a beach holiday in Turkmenistan is the second half of spring and autumn, when daytime temperatures do not exceed + 28 ° C.
How to get to the Turkmen beaches?
Direct flights to Ashgabat are carried out several times a week by Turkmenistan Airlines and Russian airlines. Travel time is 3.5 hours. In the capital, you will have to transfer to a local flight to Turkmenbashi, from the airport of which the Avaza resort is only a few kilometers away.
A passenger-cargo ferry runs from Astrakhan to the port of Turkmenbashi.
Curious on a note

The construction of white stone on the Kopetdag cliff is considered a saint, and the guides are happy to tell tourists the beautiful legend about the fate of the local girl, after whom the mosque is named. The shrine, according to popular beliefs, helps in women's affairs and fulfills wishes.
