Some modern heraldic symbols of cities and regions of the Russian Federation practically do not differ from the previous, pre-revolutionary ones. Although it is clear that many of them, such as the coat of arms of the Tver region, could not be used a priori under Soviet rule, since the elements decorating them were associated with the empire, but not with the proletariat or the peasantry.
Description of the heraldic sign of the Tver region
The modern official symbol of the region is the traditional shield called the French. It has the shape of a rectangle with an aspect ratio of 9: 8, the lower edges are rounded, at the bottom in the center, on the contrary, it is sharpened. For the background, the authors of the sketch chose one of the most popular heraldic tones - scarlet. He is beautiful in itself, besides this, it symbolizes courage, courage, as it is associated with the color of blood.
This rich looking shield background contains three important symbolic elements:
- two-stage gold foot, which serves as a base;
- a massive, austere throne of gold color with a high back and decorative inserts, a green pillow, but without armrests;
- the famous cap of Monomakh.
The color palette of the coat of arms of the Tver region is dominated by scarlet and gold, the latter symbolizing wealth, splendor, prosperity, nobility, respect for traditions.
From the history of the symbol
The basis for today's heraldic sign of the region is the coat of arms received by the Tver province. An important event happened in December 1856. The main difference is that the cap of Monomakh was located on the princely throne, and the royal crown was located above the shield. Moreover, this headdress was not a symbol of a real reigning person, but of Christ the Almighty himself.
Well, all connoisseurs of Russian history associate Monomakh's hat with the coronation ceremony of many Russian tsars. The image of the throne was also slightly different from the one that exists today, although the color of the throne itself (gold) and the pillow (green) have been preserved.
In addition, there was another important difference. The coat of arms of the Tver province, in addition to the shield and crown, also had a magnificent wreath of oak leaves and fruits, painted in gold. The leaves were beautifully wrapped around the azure Andreevskaya ribbon. The branches symbolized longevity, power, strength, and the ribbon was a symbol of victory. In this form, with a precious royal crown, a wreath framed and an azure ribbon, the coat of arms looked even more pompous and solemn.
