Confidence, strength, calmness - it is with such concepts that one can associate the coat of arms of the Samara region, one of the important subjects of the Russian Federation. The main official symbol looks dignified thanks to the strict selection of colors and elements.
The authors of the sketch took the historical coat of arms of the Samara province of 1878 as the basis for the modern image, while relying on European and Russian heraldic traditions.
Description of the coat of arms of the region
The coat of arms is built according to the canons of European heraldry, among the components the following are distinguished:
- a traditional French shield of azure color with the main character-symbol;
- imperial headdress made of precious metal;
- a wreath of oak leaves in a frame;
- Andreevskaya ribbon tied at the bottom with a bow.
Interestingly, the last element has remained unchanged for centuries, while the authors of many Russian emblems have replaced it with ribbons corresponding to Soviet orders.
The main and only character on the shield was a wild goat. The graceful animal is shown standing, facing to the left (for the viewer). To draw the elements, different colors were used, the goat itself is silver, its horns are golden, the eyes and tongue are scarlet, the hooves are black.
The meaning of the elements
Let it not seem strange, but the figure of a goat is as popular in world heraldry as the figures of a lion and an eagle. The wild goat is often present on the main official symbols of ancient European cities. Since ancient times, the image of this animal has been used in the meaning of a leader, leader, the embodiment of strength and invincibility.
A golden oak wreath, complemented by acorns, also has its own symbolic meaning, it is associated with power, strength, longevity. The blue ribbon is directly related to the Order of St. Andrew the First-Called; its appearance on the heraldic symbol meant that the city belonged to the Russian Empire.
For the coat of arms of the Samara region, the colors known in heraldry were selected - azure, silver, gold, scarlet, black. Each of them contains its own symbolic meaning. For example, azure color means beauty, freedom, clarity, silver is associated with moral and intellectual purity.
