The most fiery resort in the Mediterranean, the island of Ibiza is loved by many generations of tourists, for whom vacation is not limited to lazy swims in the calm sea and sunbathing. In addition to the best nightclubs in the Old World, the island is ready to offer its guests Ibiza holidays - colorful, bright, varied and very dynamic.
Let's take a look at the calendar
The Catalan name "fiesta" stuck to Ibiza holidays as well. Each town and municipality on the island has its own list of fiestas dedicated to the patrons of the community, but some dates are celebrated everywhere:
- New Year is replaced by Three Kings here - the day of January 6, when the Magi came to look at the baby Jesus.
- Easter is celebrated on the island in March or April, and Christmas is celebrated on December 25. Both holidays are quite family-friendly even in noisy Ibiza, but there are plenty of activities for tourists here.
- On October 12, all Spain celebrates the opening of the New World by Christopher Columbus.
Other holidays in Ibiza are an extravaganza of fascinating carnivals and celebrations in honor of the patrons of villages and villages. Here they honor the saints who patronize fishermen and sailors, travelers and warriors. To be on the island on such days means to take part in fancy-dress balls and processions, watch colorful fireworks and, of course, light up the night on the best dance floors.
Winter Pincha
One of the great traditions in Ibiza is called Pintxa or Pincha. Its essence is that during a month, using a special Pincha card, you can go to the bars and cafes of Ibiza, marked on the map, and drink wine for little money, marking the points visited on the map.
The participant of the marathon who has bypassed all the bars receives applause, and the best bar according to the visitors' version gets an honorary label. Usually Pincha starts at the end of February.
Kites and blooming almonds
Noche Nocturna de los Almendros is a beautiful tradition dedicated to the coming of spring. Almond Blossom Night is a holiday in Ibiza that takes place at the end of February. In the city of San Antonio, a marathon starts in the evening, in which hundreds of people who want to take a walk under the moon and enjoy the smell of flowering almond trees, take part.
In March, the island hosts participants in the kite fiesta. All sorts of silhouettes soar in the sky above the sea - butterflies and dragons, seahorses and outlandish fish.
In the City of Imp
A fabulous festival called Feria Medieval de Ibiza is held on the island in the first decade of May. In ancient times, on the site of the modern village of Dalt Vila, there was the City of Bes - Eivissa, founded by the Carthaginians in the 7th century BC.
The center of the holiday is the fortress, which is protected by UNESCO as one of the best preserved medieval buildings in the Mediterranean.
The organizers of the fiesta are trying to recreate the atmosphere of those years. Street actors and magicians entertain the audience, merchants of souvenirs and sweets become objects of increased attention of visiting guests, and cars leave the city streets during the festival.
