The rivers of Kyrgyzstan are numerous. In total, there are more than forty thousand rivers and rivulets in the country. Mountain rivers, as a rule, are not navigable, since they are characterized by a complex topography of the channel and a high speed of water flow. That is why many rivers of the country are attractive for rafting enthusiasts.

Isfairamsay river

Isfayramsay flows through the lands of Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan. Its total length is one hundred and twenty-two kilometers with a drainage basin area of two thousand two hundred and twenty squares. The beginning of the river is the forts of the Alai ridge. In its upper reaches, Isfayramsay is known as Tengizbay.

The main source of food is melting snow and glaciers. At the same time, the maximum falls on the period May … August, the river receives the minimum recharge in winter, in December-February.

During the high-flowing period of Isfayramsay, the water in the river becomes a stormy stream of a rich chocolate hue, which is due to the huge amount of impurities such as clay and sand. The water in the river is very cold at any time of the year.

Ala-Archa river

Ala-Archa flows through the territory of Kyrgyzstan through the Chui region (not far from Bishkek). The river is very short: its total length is only seventy-six kilometers.

The river source is located in the glaciers of the Kyrgyz Alatau. The river is fed by several large tributaries - Adygene, Teke-Ter, Dzhinji-Suu.

The main use of water is industrial-scale irrigation.

Alamedin river

The river bed passes through the lands of the Alamudun region of the country and is a left tributary of the Chu River. The total length of the current is seventy-eight kilometers with a drainage basin of three hundred and seventeen square kilometers.

The beginning of the river is the Alamedin glacier (Kyrgyz Ala-Too, northern slope). The upper course is incredible as it passes through a narrow gorge. After descending into the Chuy valley, the river widens the channel and becomes much shallower.

The river basin includes twenty-two small lakes and fifty-three glaciers. In total, the river has thirty-three tributaries. And the largest was the Chunkurchak River, with a length of nineteen kilometers.

Alamedin waters are used for irrigation.

Talas river

The river bed crosses the lands of two countries - Kyrgyzstan and Kazakhstan. The total length of the current is equal to six hundred and sixty-one kilometers with a total drainage basin of fifty-two thousand squares.

The river is formed by the confluence of two rutting rivers - Karakol and Uch-Koshoi, flowing down from the glaciers of the Talas ridge (lands of Kyrgyzstan). The river has many tributaries and, nevertheless, in its lower course the river is so shallow that it simply dissolves in the sands of Moyinkum.
