A trip to Cambodia is an opportunity to see the unique architectural monuments, which, after the establishment of "order" in the country by the Khmer Rouge, survived only by a miracle. And the most majestic of them is Angkor, which is a palace and temple complex.
Public transport
You can get around the city using the following services: private taxis; buses; rickshaws (bicycles and mopeds). True, buses are only available in large cities, since for provincial towns this is an unaffordable luxury. The bus fleet is represented by a variety of models. You can find both completely outdated models without doors and windows, and ultra-modern two-story "luxury" cars with all the conveniences.
Taxi
Taxis in the country are used exclusively by its guests. Too low income of the local population makes taxi services unavailable.
But the most popular way to get around cities is by mopeds and motorcycle and cycle rickshaws. Outwardly, such "taxis" look like carts, where four people can safely sit.
Railway transport
The total length of roads is 602 kilometers. It is worth remembering that the routes are very limited. In addition, the schedule can change completely unexpectedly, and the time of arrival is completely impossible to predict.
If you still decide on such an extreme trip, then be prepared to significantly overpay for the ticket. But there is definitely no need to hope for comfort - there are no passenger cars in the country, and the trip itself will have to be carried out in an ordinary "freight train". Travel speed is only 20 km / h.
The only route in the country is Takeo-Kampot (Sihanoukville terminus).
Water transport
The total length of the waterways is 2,400 kilometers. And the water trip will be the most exciting. The main river of the country is the Mekong, but Cambodia is all cut by numerous canals and rivers, and therefore you can get to almost any corner of the country by water.
The trip can be done either in a small private boat or in a speedboat.
Air transport
There are several airport complexes in Cambodia. There are only two international flights and they are located in Siem Reap and the capital of the country, Phnom Penh. All other airports are used exclusively for flights between three cities: Phnom Penh, Siem Reap and Ratanakiri.
Both domestic and international flights are operated by local airlines: Cambodia Angkor Air; Royal Khmer Airlines; Skywings Asia Airlines; Tonle Sap Airlines.
You can also hitchhike around the country, since the locals are quite peaceful.
