Going on vacation to North Korea is a very dubious undertaking, but some advanced travelers are puzzled by this and quite successfully cope with this goal. In principle, there are no resorts in North Korea. Here, even a simple independent tourist route will not be able to pass. An interpreter-guide and a driver are firmly attached to each entered tourist, who are vigilantly watching that their charges do not do anything superfluous and simply do not turn off the route in a direction alien to the Juche ideas.
How to get there?
Entry to North Korea for a resident of Russia is allowed only by air, and only on an Air Korio flight from Vladivostok to Pyongyang. Previous flights from Moscow to the DPRK capital were banned by the North Korean government in 2000.
Undercover Rest
The itinerary of an excursion around any city "non-resort" in South Korea is drawn up in advance in the relevant authorities and is offered to the guest without any special opportunities for discussion. The schedule of stay is also the same and includes an early rise, lunch, a couple of attractions and dinner at the hotel around 19:00. No independent walks, photo shoots and other excesses can be undertaken on a tour of North Korea. Shopping and shopping is a utopian idea for North Korea. Not a resort, and therefore a foreigner may be completely denied entry to a retail outlet. However, the assigned "guides" in a rather categorical manner suppress all attempts to contact the population and penetrate deep into local realities.
Stronghold of local ideas
The mausoleum of the great leader Kim Il Sung is the main attraction of the capital of North Korea. It doesn't look like a resort here either - the visiting rules are especially strict and must be strictly observed. At the entrance, you are supposed to hand over everything to the storage room, except for glasses, fasten with all available buttons and go through an X-ray and a metal detector. A huge statue of the leader precedes the entrance to the hall with the body, and buying and laying a bouquet at its foot is an obligatory part of the visiting schedule.
