In the country where the most famous winter wizard Santa Claus lives, on the eve of the Christmas and New Year holidays, the number of young tourists increases several times. But in the rest of the year, Finland is no less popular with travelers, especially those who live in noisy cities and large industrial centers. The former provinces of Finland, now called fiefs, are ready to provide tourists with forests and copses, national parks, beautiful rivers and quiet lakes.

Lapland - the small homeland of Santa Claus

It is located, of course, in the northernmost regions of Finland, bordered by Russia, Norway, Sweden. So Santa, a citizen of the world, may well have four passports from different countries. By the way, not every tourist can pronounce the local name of Santa Claus, as well as the names of many Finnish cities and resorts.

For travelers with children, the route goes through the symbolic village of Santa Claus, the excursion is accompanied by various fairy tales from the life of Santa and his reindeer friends. Adults will undoubtedly appreciate skiing, ice skating on the icy surface of forest lakes, cozy snow-covered houses and the famous Finnish saunas.

Forest - Finnish wealth

Finland's seven national parks, which differ from each other, are one huge attraction in this northern country. Lemmenjoki is one of the largest parks in Europe. On its territory, pine forests and heather thickets, rivers and swamps are freely located. The Finns themselves call the picturesque Ravadaskengas waterfall a highlight of this natural complex.

A distinctive feature of the Riisitunturi National Park is the Korouoma Canyon, which is about 30 kilometers long. There are not many swamps here, but there are enough high hills in abundance. From the banks of the canyon, stunning views open up.

Where do Moomins live?

The answer is not to be found in the book by the Finnish writer Tove Janson, who is the literary mother of amazing characters. Each indigenous person will explain that the fabulous country is located on the coast, not far from the city of Naantali.

The place where Moomin Trolls live can be reached by a small train, it can already become an adventure. A fabulous village has been created in the valley, which has streets and houses, towers and stairs, slides and swings. Everything is made of wood.

In the center of the town is the main house where famous characters live. You can see how they live, take pictures and even invite them over. Every day performances are performed in Finnish on the theater stage, but all tourists understand the language of gestures, facial expressions, movements, intonation and without translation.
