The last sunny, dry summer month is the most suitable for a beach holiday in this small country with access to the Adriatic Sea. Luxurious hotels and small apartments allow guests of the country to stay as comfortable as possible and not very burdensome for the family budget.
Holidays in Slovenia in August are preferred by those tourists who dream of combining sea and sun bathing, recovery in local spa centers and educational and entertaining travels around the country and history.
Weather in August
The Adriatic coast of the Republic of Slovenia is located in a zone of warm mild subtropical climate. Therefore, summer does not end in August, on some days there may be temperature records when the thermometer exceeds + 27 ºС. The second positive point is the almost complete absence of precipitation, rains are rare and short-lived, tourists may not take too much warm clothes.
Thermal health resort
Slovenia is quite successfully developing the thermal springs available on its territory, helping people to improve their health and replenishing the state treasury. All conditions have been created at the local thermal springs: modern medical equipment, water rich in minerals and useful substances, good specialists.
Since a rather large group of clients is made up of tourists from Russian-speaking countries, the staff is actively mastering a close language in order to reduce the risk of misunderstanding and promptly resolve emerging problems.
Alpine lakes
Those who are tired of sea experiences and beach fun can safely go to the Alps, where Bled and Bohinj, the most beautiful mountain lakes, await them. The first of them is fed by warm groundwater, so even in August the temperature is at the level of + 22 ºC.
This resort is an ideal getaway for parents and children. Firstly, the swimming season continues, the hotels are surrounded by beautiful landscapes, and secondly, there are interesting architectural monuments very close by, for example, the Bled castle, the construction of which dates back to the 11th century. Now this architectural complex houses the halls of the historical museum and a restaurant of national cuisine.
Lake Bohinj is located on the land allocated for a national park, in the immediate vicinity of the symbol of the Republic of Slovenia - Mount Triglav. Tourists combine recreation on the lake with hiking, cycling and fishing. In addition, extreme sports such as rafting and paragliding are developed here.
