Lyon-Saint-Exupery International Airport belongs to the city of the same name in France. The airport is located 25 kilometers east of Lyon and is one of the largest airports in France, along with airports such as Charles de Gaulle, Paris-Orly and Nice. The flow of passengers per year here exceeds 8.5 million.
The Lyon airport is operated by Aéroports de Lyon. At the moment, the airport has two runways, 4,000 and 2,670 meters long.
History
Lyon's first airport is Lyon-Bron Airport, which was located 10 km from the city. However, as elsewhere, the flow of passengers increased rapidly, and the airport was no longer able to cope with such an influx.
Since the Lyon-Bron airport was not possible to modernize, the government seriously thought about building a new modern international airport that would be able to accommodate all types of aircraft at that time.
Since 1965, an active search for a construction site began, which was launched by 1971. Four years later, in April, the new Lyon-Satolias airport was commissioned. At the end of the month, all flights from the old airport were moved here.
By 1989, the airport's capacity was about 3 million passengers, an investment program carried out in the same year doubled the capacity.
In 1994, a TGV line was installed from the airport, which to this day allows you to get from the airport not only to Lyon, but also to other nearby cities - Paris, Marseille, etc.
In 2000, the airport received a new, current name - Lyon-Saint-Exupery for the centenary of the Lyon pilot Antoine Saint-Exupery.

How to get there
Lyon is the center of the Rhône-Alpes ski resort, so transport links are excellent from the airport.
- Express tram. The interval of movement is every 30 minutes.
- Train. By train, you can reach both Lyon and the nearest cities in France and several cities in Italy.
- Shuttle buses are active during the winter and carry passengers to ski resorts.
- Taxi. As with other airports, you can get there by taxi.
An alternative way of transportation is a rented car; a tourist can easily use the services of numerous companies.
