Manas Airport is an international airport belonging to the capital of Kyrgyzstan, Bishkek. The airport is located about 25 km from the city. For a long time, the airport was used as an air base for the US Air Force.
History
The airport in Bishkek was commissioned in 1974, when the first Il-62 aircraft landed. A year later, regular flights began at Manas Airport - Domodedovo (Moscow).
At the beginning of 2001, an open joint-stock company was established - Manas International Airport.
From that year until recently, the airport was used as an air base for the US Air Force.
Finding the owner
After the termination of the use of the airport by the US Air Force, it became unprofitable. An active search for investors abroad is underway. The Kyrgyz government owns approximately 84% of the shares.
There were lengthy conversations with the Russian company Rosneft, which could provide the airport with cheap fuel. However, the disagreement of the local people led to the refusal of the Russian company.
In addition to Rosneft, several companies from China and several international investors may become investors of the airport.
