The international airport in Astrakhan has at its disposal two runways: an artificial one made of reinforced concrete with a length of 3.2 km, and an unpaved one, 9 km long. The capacity of the air harbor is more than 300 thousand people a year.
The enterprise serves about ten air carriers in the world, but the main ones here are still the Russian companies Aeroflot, UTair, Ak Bars Aero, connecting the region by air with the cities of the Russian Federation. During the season, the airport serves charter flights to popular tourist countries.
History of the Astrakhan airport
The first airfield in Astrakhan began to function in 1932 near the village of Osypnoy Bugor. And the first operating airport appeared only in 1936.
At the end of World War II, a disbanded military airfield entered the structure of the airport in Astrakhan. The new airline was named Narimanovo. In the 50s, the Astrakhan squadron renewed its aircraft fleet with the then modern Il-14, An-24, Li-2 aircraft.
Gradually expanding and improving, Narimanovo became the main airport of the Astrakhan region. Its dawn and formation fell on the years of the existence of the USSR. Unfortunately, after the collapse of the Soviet Union, the number of passenger and freight traffic decreased by almost 10 times.
At present, after a series of renovations of the runway and the terminal building, the airport has been given international status.
Service and services
There are several cafes, a small bar and a fairly cozy restaurant on the territory of the airport. The rooms of a fisherman and a hunter, a mother and a child are warmly welcomed. Convenient navigation allows passengers to move around the terminal on a mobile basis. To services of passengers information desk, ticket offices for sale of air tickets, as well as ticket offices for booking railway tickets. A medical center, a luggage packing point, and a luggage room are open around the clock. The terminal has branches of Sberbank and Rosbank, payment terminals and ATMs.
For relaxation, a comfortable waiting room and, just a few meters from the terminal, a hotel are provided. For VIP passengers, the terminal has a business lounge, a meeting room and a conference hall.
Transport
Buses No. 80, No. 5, No. 2 run regularly from the airport to Astrakhan. City taxis offer their services.
