Description of the attraction
A unique museum of satire and humor, illustrating part of the work of Ilf and Petrov "12 chairs", settled in the small town of Kozmodemyansk. The choice of the city for the museum, perpetuating the protagonist of the novel, Ostap Bender, was not accidental, because it was in Vasyuki (the prototype of Kozmodemyansk) that a simultaneous game with the "great grandmaster" on 160 boards took place and plans were made to hold an interplanetary chess tournament.
The Ostap Bender Museum of Satire and Humor is located in an old classicist merchant's house. In two halls are kept household items illustrating the famous chess tournament, lunch in Vasyukinsky narpit and new hairstyles of Ostap and Kisa after staying in a hairdresser called "I cut and shave goats." The entire museum exposition dedicated to the great combiner was created by the residents of the city and is not limited to the walls of the building: every second house in the city is decorated with a chessboard, monuments dedicated to the events taking place in the novel have been erected, and, as the highest degree of veneration, the annual Banderiada festival.
During the Interregional Festival, the small town turns into a theatrical performance with music concerts and humorists' performances. The guests who arrived on the ship are met by the heroes of the novel themselves and on the way to the museum they show all the sights of the world of Ilf and Petrov, leaving in memory the colorful moments of their stay in a small town on the Volga - Kozmodemyansk.
