Description of the attraction
Sir Selwyn Clarke Market is not only a national landmark, but also the main market in the Seychelles capital, Victoria. It was built in the 1840s in an early Victorian style and is named after the governor and commander in chief of the Seychelles.
Traditional markets are always interesting and the Sir Selwyn Clark Market in Victoria is no exception. Here you can buy seasonal and imported fruits, freshly caught fish and the hottest spices. A visit to the market, reconstructed in 1999, is an opportunity to plunge into the culture and experience the way of life of the inhabitants of the Seychelles. A multitude of boutiques and shops selling a variety of souvenirs, clothing and local artwork complete its atmosphere. The market is a vibrant, colorful place and is especially lively on Saturday mornings and closed on Sundays.
