Description of the attraction
The Aker Brygge promenade is the most popular leisure and walking destination in Oslo, located within the city limits. In 1982. after the closure of the shipyards, the construction of a modern fashionable area began here at an accelerated pace. Expensive restaurants and cafes, entertainment centers and shops, residential and office buildings of glass, metal and brick have grown along the waterfront for several years. Today only a couple of industrial buildings remind of the region's shipbuilding past. Opposite the embankment, you can see the old fort-fortress Akershurs.
Aker Brugge attracts not only tourists, but locals also come here in good weather to stroll along the bay, sit at a table in one of the barge restaurants, listen to street concerts and just admire the sunset, enjoying the surrounding idyll.
